2. Add or edit entries in the Entries tab. Type a name in Add entry and press Enter or Add. Paste a list (one item per line) and click Paste list. Is the Wheel Truly Random?

Yes — VSPIC uses the browser crypto.getRandomValues() API, the same cryptographically secure source used for security tokens and UUIDs. Each spin picks a winning segment index from that secure random source before the animation starts. The visual spin is designed to land exactly on the pre-selected winner; the animation does not fake randomness after the fact.

In default mode every entry has equal probability. Enable Weighted entries in Settings to give some slices higher chance — useful when one option should appear more often but still remain on the wheel. Weights from 1 to 99 appear in the Wt column on each entry row.

Is My Data Private?

Your wheel data stays on your device by default. Entries, settings, spin history, and statistics are stored in your browser localStorage when you click Save wheel or when you edit entries (auto-persist). VSPIC does not upload your names, lists, or spin results to our servers for processing. The spin calculation happens locally in JavaScript on your phone or computer.

The only time data leaves your browser intentionally is when you copy Share link or Embed code. Those URLs encode your wheel title, entries, colors, and weights in the link itself — convenient for sharing, but anyone with the link can decode and view your entries. Do not share links containing sensitive personal data in public channels if privacy matters.

How the VSPIC Wheel Works

Under the hood, VSPIC builds a list of wheel segments from your entries. Each segment stores a start angle and end angle on the circle. In weighted mode, slices with higher weight occupy more arc length, so they are both visually larger and statistically more likely to win.

When you spin, the app first selects winner index(es) using secure randomness — one for standard mode, or multiple for multi-winner mode. It then calculates the rotation angle needed so the pointer at the top aligns with that slice after several full rotations plus easing deceleration. requestAnimationFrame drives smooth sixty-fps animation. Rotation state persists so consecutive spins continue from the last angle.

Share link and embed code — how they work

Share link and embed code both use the same encoded wheel snapshot in the URL. They are not a live collaboration or real-time sync service. If one person spins in Chrome, another person with the same link in Firefox does not see that spin — they only see the same starting entries and settings.

Share link (snapshot URL)

When you click Share link, VSPIC copies a URL like vspic.com/spin-the-wheel?w=… where the w parameter holds a base64 snapshot of your title, entries, colors, weights, and theme at that moment. Opening the link rebuilds that wheel in the recipient’s browser. They can spin, edit, and save locally on their device. Your spins do not appear on their screen, and their edits do not update your link automatically.

• Copy Share link again after you change entries — the old link still points to the previous snapshot.
• Each browser tab or device maintains its own spin history and localStorage save.
• There is no account or server room — nothing pushes live updates between viewers.
• For a live reveal on one screen, use one device in fullscreen or share your screen on a video call instead of expecting URL sync.

Embed code (iframe on your website)

Embed code copies an HTML iframe tag whose src is your share URL plus embed=1. Paste it into a blog post, Notion page, or school site. The iframe shows a chromeless wheel (no site header) sized to about 640px height. Every visitor who loads your page gets their own independent wheel instance inside the iframe — same starting data from the URL, separate spins and history.

1. Build and customize your wheel in the Entries and Customize tabs.
2. Click Share link once to ensure the encoded URL reflects your latest entries (Embed code uses the same encoding).
3. Click Embed code and paste the iframe into your HTML or CMS embed block.
4. Adjust width and height in the iframe attributes if your layout needs a taller or narrower wheel.
5. To show two different wheels on one page, create each wheel, copy two different embed codes, and place two iframes side by side.

Embed mode does not sync spins across iframes or browsers. To update what embedded visitors see after you change entries, generate a new share URL and replace the iframe src on your site.
