IP Fraud Checker — Risk Score & Blacklist Signals
fraudScore risk rating with blacklist, VPN, proxy, hosting, and botnet detection rows
How to Use This Tool
- Enter IPv4 address, hostname, or domain to assess.
- Input resolves to IPv4 with inputType and resolvedFrom metadata.
- Parallel DNSBL and extra blacklist zones query list status.
- Geolocation enriches org, ISP, ASN, country, city, VPN, proxy, hosting flags.
- fraudScore aggregates weights from listings and privacy signals, capped 0–100.
- Review detections array, listedOn names, summary text, and geo block in JSON.
About This Tool
Payment fraud, account takeover, and content abuse teams need fast triage when an IP submits a checkout, login, or API request. VSPIC IP fraud checker runs the reputation action: resolves domains to IPv4, queries DNS blacklists and supplemental lists, enriches geolocation with VPN, proxy, hosting, and mobile flags, computes fraudScore from zero to one hundred with riskLevel low/medium/high, and returns detections array naming DNS Blacklists, VPN, Proxy, Hosting, Botnet, and Malware reputation status rows.
fraudScore is heuristic — blacklist hits, VPN and proxy signals, hosting density, and botnet-related list names contribute. It does not prove criminal intent or identity. Use alongside device fingerprinting, velocity rules, and chargeback data before auto-blocking legitimate users on mobile VPNs or cloud egress IPs.
Common use cases
- •Check if a VPN or proxy is detected on your connection
- •Validate SSL certificates before launch
- •Scan for email addresses in known breaches
Why use VSPIC for ?
- Single fraudScore for ticketing and rule engine thresholds.
- detections array explains score contributors in plain language.
- VPN, proxy, hosting, and botnet rows for manual review queues.
- Accepts domain or IP — resolves ecommerce referrer domains automatically.
- listedOn enumerates DNSBL zone names for delisting workflows.
- Same reputation backend as IP reputation checker with fraud-oriented framing.
How fraudScore is composed
Listed DNSBL zones add significant weight — multiple listings stack toward high riskLevel. VPN and proxy signals add moderate increments reflecting anonymization common in fraud rings. Hosting and datacenter classification adds smaller increments because legitimate APIs also egress from cloud ASNs.
Botnet/spam-related list names (Spamhaus, SpamCop, DroneBL patterns) flip botnet detection row to suspected. Score caps at 100; riskLevel maps to low, medium, or high bands for policy routing.
Reading the detections array
Each detection includes name, status (clean, listed, detected, suspected, risk), and detail string. Support staff scan detail without parsing raw blacklists JSON. DNS Blacklists row summarizes listed zone count; Malware reputation interprets any listing as potential past abuse.
Export detections to CRM fraud notes when escalating account reviews.
VPN and proxy false positives
Consumer VPN users appear in fraud checks — decide policy thresholds above auto-block. Corporate VPN concentrators may flag entire offices — whitelist known ASN ranges after manual verification.
proxy detected does not distinguish benign corporate forward proxies from open anonymizers.
Ecommerce and fintech workflows
Stage rules: fraudScore above 55 routes to manual review; above 75 holds settlement. Combine with AVS, CVV, and device ID — IP alone is weak for card-not-present fraud.
Marketplace trust teams check seller registration IPs — hosting detected plus fresh domain WHOIS escalates onboarding.
Versus IP reputation checker
Both call reputation API with identical JSON — spamScore equals fraudScore field alias. IP reputation checker targets mail and abuse desk vocabulary; IP fraud checker targets payment and account fraud teams searching fraud checker keywords.
Cross-link malware IP checker for deeper DNSBL narrative on the same address.
Delisting and remediation
listedOn zone names guide abuse desk tickets to correct DNSBL operators. Delisting takes time — rescoring after removal requires rerun. fraudScore may remain elevated while VPN signal persists even after delisting.
API reputation action
GET /ip-tools/api/extended?action=reputation&query=8.8.8.8. Parse fraudScore, riskLevel, detections, listedOn, geo. Integrate with risk engines — cache TTL short because blacklist status changes.
Log resolvedFrom when input was domain — documents which A record was scored.
Authorization and fairness
Use scores to inform review queues, not as sole automated discrimination against regions or ISPs. Document override procedures when legitimate users appeal false positives.
Important notes & limitations
- Heuristic score — not a machine-learning fraud model with chargeback labels.
- VPN detection false positives on privacy-conscious legitimate users.
- Hosting flag marks datacenter egress — many SaaS APIs appear risky.
- Tor exit detection not primary on this path — use tor exit node checker.
- Blacklist absence does not guarantee trustworthy behavior.

Yes. Open the page in any modern phone or tablet browser. Results work on Wi‑Fi and mobile data.
Scores at or above 55 trigger elevated summary text; 75+ is high band. Tune thresholds to your fraud tolerance and false-positive cost.
VPN adds score weight but not automatic block. Many privacy users are legitimate — use manual review bands.
Same reputation API and JSON. This page targets fraud-oriented SEO and workflows.
No. Fresh residential IPs with no history can still be compromised devices or stolen cards.
Multiple DNSBL and supplemental zones — see listedOn and blacklists arrays in full JSON output.
Yes. It resolves to IPv4 A record before scoring, with resolvedFrom documenting the mapping.
